Abstract

In an attempt to establish a market-oriented economy in the post-socialist period (like other transition economies), Serbia has faced (and faces) with the serious challenges of creating economic system, establishment of adequate and necessary institutions and introduction of order in society with the aim of improving economic performance. In this context, corporate governance was identified as a crucial part of the reform process. Bearing in mind the importance of "intervention" performed in the last few years in the normative regulation of corporate governance and investor protection, we can say that Serbia is on the way to improve   this necessary corporate governance mechanism.
